Newborn & Lactation Support

  • Care at Home

We know the first few weeks can be challenging as your family adapt to the routine of a newborn. Newborns should ideally stay at home as much as possible during the first month of life to avoid getting sick. Dr. Maha Hanna brings comprehensive pediatric care for the first month of life to your home.* She is a Neonate Pediatric Specialist certified with IBCLC (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners).

*Home visits are only available for patients who reside in Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, or San Ramon.

  • Lactation Support

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months due to many benefits for both mom and baby. Dr. Hanna offers guidance to both mother and baby to support breastfeeding. She provides in-hospital lactation visits for the following hospitals: John Muir Walnut Creek, Kaiser Walnut Creek, San Ramon Regional Medical Center, and Stanford-ValleyCare Hospital in Pleasanton. We also have breastfeeding classes open to the community every Tuesday afternoon.

  • Premature Newborns

Babies who spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) may need extra support when they go home. Breastfeeding is often difficult for NICU babies. Dr. Hanna brings 17 years of experience from working with premature infants in the NICU. She has successfully helped countless babies successfully transition from tube feeding to breastfeeding.
