Chef: In 1981, Cindy opened Sunrise Bistro and Catering in Walnut Creek. In 1992, she revamped the restaurant menu to align with her own health journey after losing 100 pounds. She firmly believes that eating healthy can be tasty and quick.
Activist: Cindy is passionate about food as medicine and is an avid advocate for culinary medicine. In 2009, she created the “Wellness City Challenge” in Contra Costa County to spread awareness about the value of nutrition. She has worked tirelessly for decades in the community, personally catering healthy food for countless organization.
Author: When Cindy meet Dr. Robert Lustig in 2008, her whole life changed. He brought the science that backed her experiential understanding of how the body responds to processed versus whole foods. She co-authored the “FAT Chance Cookbook” with Dr. Lustig, and was one of the inspirations behind his newest book, “Metabolical.”
Teacher: Cindy created and taught a foods, nutrition, and sustainability curriculum at Mount Diablo High School for over 10 years (2011 - 2022).
